"COOK WAREHOUSE" Continued
Among the buildings built at the Cook Camp was a sheet metal building which would be known as the "Cook Warehouse", with George Curry as the first warehouseman. The building was to be used to store materials for the drilling, completion and operations of the wells in the new Van oil field. The January 1930 issue of "Pure Oil News" reported the warehouse as being completed and the Cook Camp area as being equipped with fresh running water, modern sewage and electric lights and that gas would be added as soon as practical. the fresh water was obtained from a number of springs located 3-1/2 miles from the camp. the water was pumped thru a 6-5/8" line to a 55,000 barrel tank located '/2 mile from the camp. for drinking purposes it was allowed to gravitate to a chlorination house and after purification, pumped into an elevated 500 barrel tank from where it ran into the camp.
